UConn School of Pharmacy Intern Drafts Successful FDA ODD for ALS
In 2019, BioPharma Global received an orphan drug designation project through collaboration with the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy regulatory affairs intern rotation program. Our CEO James LaFlamme brought the project in pro bono from another UConn School of Pharmacy Advisory Board Member’s referral and, with the help of the BPG regulatory team and our amazing intern, a successful ODD was written for ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease.

UConn School of Pharmacy Receives a Multimillion-Dollar Bequest From Jim LaFlamme
In 2021, Jim LaFlamme made a multimillion-dollar bequest to the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy. The people that knew LaFlamme back in the ‘70s would never have predicted that he would be able to pull this off. Back then he had little regard for classroom learning at UConn. He took full advantage of the 18-year-old drinking age and didn’t take anything seriously. His photographic memory helped him axcel in classes with little effort. LaFlamme was also regarded as a bit of a troublemaker and admits that without the counsel of the dean, Karl Nieforth, he would have never graduated.

Dr. Sandi Heibel Presents at the University of Vermont
On June 19, 2018, BioPharma Global’s Chief Science Officer, Dr. Sandi Heibel, traveled to the University of Vermont to speak. Her presentation, Regulations of Drugs and Biologics by the Food and Drug Administration, discussed the drug development life cycle, the process of clinical studies, and US FDA policies surrounding designations such as: orphan drug, fast track, breakthrough therapy, regenerative medicine advanced therapy, and accelerated approval.
BioPharma Global Teams up with Merito Group for March for Babies
Biopharma Global forms joint fundraising team with Merito Group for April’s March for Babies fundraiser. Each year, hundreds of thousands of babies are born prematurely or with birth defects. The money we raise in March for Babies helps fund March of Dimes research and programs towards fostering healthier and stronger babies and mothers.

Our CEO, James LaFlamme, has been profiled by Dezaray Barr in the Indiana Wesleyan University Alumni Blog. James graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University in 1988 with a Masters in Management.
While a student at IWU, LaFlamme also held a full-time job as an executive. “I would describe this period of time as intense,” LaFlamme said, “but I met a lot of great people and the learning environment at IWU was outstanding.”
